The Pros and Cons of Online Dating

online datingTen years ago, many people would be embarrassed if others knew they used online dating sites. But today, more and more people are using online dating websites and apps every single day, which means online dating has become extremely common in today’s day and age, already. I think now it’s the right time to discuss the pros and cons of online dating.

Pros:

Online dating gives you many more opportunities than real-life situations. If you create a profile and start to search for singles on a dating website, you’ll see numerous opportunities, immediately. You can join a dating website today and meet 10 people in one week. However, if you don’t participate in online dating, perhaps you’ll meet 10 people in one year.

Online dating is straightforward, which means we all know why everybody is on a dating website, so you don’t need to guess anymore. If you meet someone at a party, you’ll need to spend a few hours having a conversation with that person, trying to see: 1) if that person is single and available; 2) if that person is interested in you; 3) if you are interested in that person.

If you join an online dating site, you can figure out all of these much faster; therefore, online dating is more efficient – it suits our busy modern lifestyle.

online datingCons:

Maybe you won’t meet many high-quality singles on a dating site. Many men use online dating sites in order to date extremely hot girls, like models and celebrities. But I have to be honest here: Nine times out of ten, really hot girls are not on there! That’s because most highly-valuable women wouldn’t need to use online dating sites. For instance, if a girl is a popular model, she is already surrounded by successful men who want to date her, so why would she join an online dating site?

You never know whether the person that you met online is seeing others or not.  Because of online dating, it’s actually harder to have a serious relationship, because most singles who use online dating sites are happy to meet many people at the same time, thereby choosing the one that they really want. That means if you are dating someone and you think it’s time to be exclusive, having the ‘let’s be exclusive’ talk could be difficult because the person you are dating has access to countless singles on the Internet.
